The Tranquilizer Gun is a specialized non-lethal weapon essential for taming dangerous wildlife in 99 Nights in The Forest. Unlike conventional weapons that kill, the tranq gun temporarily incapacitates creatures, allowing players to safely approach and tame them for companionship and defense.
The Tranquilizer Gun becomes exponentially more valuable in later nights (60+) when tamed creatures provide essential defensive advantages against increasingly powerful enemies. Prioritize crafting it by Night 30 to begin building your animal army.
Crafting the Tranquilizer Gun requires significant preparation and resource gathering. It can only be crafted at an Advanced Workbench (Tier 3), which itself requires substantial progression.

Higher health = easier taming. Avoid damaging creature before tranquilizing.
Having creature's favorite food increases success chance by 40%.
Beastmaster class provides 25% taming bonus and faster tame time.
Tamed creatures can be commanded using the number keys (1-4 for different behaviors). Alpha Wolves set to "aggressive" will automatically defend your base at night, while Mammoths set to "passive" make excellent pack animals for resource gathering expeditions.
In late-game nights, tamed creatures become essential for base defense:
Use tamed creatures to enhance resource gathering efficiency:
Beastmaster tames creatures while Builder constructs specialized pens and feeding stations.
Medic heals injured creatures during/after battles, keeping animal army at full strength.
3 players: One tranquilizes, one distracts, one prepares food/backup. Efficient for rare creatures.
No. The Tranquilizer Gun only affects wildlife and creatures. It has no effect on human players, friendly or hostile. This is a game balance decision to prevent griefing.
The Tranquilizer Gun comes with 5 darts when crafted. Additional darts can be crafted at the Chemistry Station using 1 Sedative Solution and 1 Metal Scrap per 3 darts.
If a creature wakes before taming completes, it will become permanently hostile to you and your team. You must either kill it or flee. Always ensure you have enough time before attempting to tame.
Yes. Tamed creatures have health bars and can die if not protected. When a tamed creature dies, it's gone permanently. You can tame a new one, but the bond and experience with the previous creature is lost.
Absolutely. While expensive, a single tamed Alpha Wolf provides more defensive value than most weapons. For long-term survival (especially nights 60+), the tranq gun is arguably the most valuable tool in the game.
Currently, there are no upgrades for the base Tranquilizer Gun. However, using it as a Beastmaster class provides inherent bonuses. Future updates may introduce upgraded versions or attachments.
